Hernán Diaz

Hernán Díaz is an Argentine-American novelist acclaimed for his innovative narratives and exploration of themes like wealth, power, and identity. Born in Buenos Aires in 1973, his family relocated to Sweden following Argentina's military coup, later returning after democracy was restored. Díaz pursued literature studies in Buenos Aires, London, and earned a PhD from New York University. His debut novel, In the Distance (2017), was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and PEN/Faulkner Award. His second novel, Trust (2022), won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, lauded for its layered storytelling and critique of capitalism. Díaz resides in Brooklyn with his family.
